Preschool Options

Transitional Kindergaerten (TK)

TK is a free, full-day early entrance program for children who will be 4 years old by Septemeber 1st. Students qualify for TK by showing they would benefit from a year of quality early learning prior to kindergaten, and are not eligible for ECEAP.

Curriculum

Valley Preschool implements Creative Curriculum as its curriculum, which correlates well with the Valley School curriculum and has great enrichment opportunities. Students will be assessed in the curriculum areas listed below. This will help us identify your child’s strengths and the skills they need to gain in preparation for kindergarten.

Practical Life Skills dressing, spooning, cutting, hand washing and cleaning skills
Blocks spacial relations, problem solving, visual perception, balance and gravity
Large Group  increased vocabulary, listening skills, attention span and comprehension
Math number concepts, one-to-one correspondence, patterning, number recognition, counting and problem solving
Science cause and effect, observation skills and critical thinking
Language sequencing, left to right progression, letter recognition, expressive and receptive language, communication and phonetic awareness
Dramatic Play role playing, cooperation and positive self-image
Fine Motor Skills hand strengthening, pencil grasp, dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Art creativity, exposure to different art mediums, fine and gross motor skills

Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP)

Valley Preschool and ECEAP (pronounced E-Cap) are working in partnership to offer free preschool to qualifying families. If your child is three, four or five and is too young for kindergarten AND has one of these qualifying factors please call to find out more.

  • Low income family
  • Developmental delay or disability including speech
  • Foster child
  • Homeless
  • Other family circumstances

ECEAP offers the following services:

  • Quality preschool classroom emphasizing kindergarten readiness
  • Meals and limited transportation provided
  • Health and dental education
  • Family support services
  • Family goal-setting and referrals
  • Developmental screenings, parent/teacher conferences

Transportation
