Board of Directors

A blue and gold logo with the words 'Boards of Distinction'.

The Valley School District Board of Directors was named a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors’ Association in 2025. The Board received a recognition award from WSSDA for their work in fostering successful student outcomes and focusing on early learning initiatives to close learning opportunity gaps at a foundational level.

Valley’s school board members (“directors”) selflessly volunteer their time and energy to benefit the well-being of our youngest citizens and the district’s various learning programs and services. Working in tandem with the Superintendent and administrators, directors navigate a variety of state laws and regulations, as well as local issues to guide and support the district’s educational and operational goals. The school board is entrusted to establish policies, oversee budgets, and provide input and advocacy both at a grassroots level and with local and state legislative representatives to improve public education systems.

Directors serve as a vital link between community interests and school district/student achievement, and through their continuing service demonstrate dedication and forward-thinking planning for Valley citizens’ future advantages. Our school board is unique in that several of the directors have been serving the community in this capacity for decades. President Bill Wilson was elected to the Board in 1983 when his children attended Valley School. Paul (‘PD’) Voelker started on the Board a couple years earlier than Bill (1980-81), and intends to go the distance and mark 50 years of board service. Vice President Doug Elledge has served over 20 years, and with Crystal Hubert over 10 years of service and Nancy Cocroft close behind.
