June 5, 2020 Message From Superintendent Ben Ferney
Valley School District Staff and Families,
There is only one week left in the 2019-20 school year! Our seniors will be officially done today and will be going through pre-graduation ceremony tomorrow. I wish we could have held an in-person graduation; however, the Paideia Staff have a great event planned for our seniors! A few key dates:
Food service with delivery will run through June 18 (two meals on June 18)
Last day of school for grades K-11 is June 12
Last day of school for seniors is June 5
Paideia High School pre-graduation ceremony is June 6
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) will be coming out with guidance next week for the opening of schools in the Fall. Our team is hard at work looking at different models and establishing baseline data for our buildings. We will be reaching out soon with a survey- stay tuned.
While there is division and angst across our state and country right now, I find myself reflecting on what I can do and what actions can be taken to help move forward in a positive direction. The one thing that keeps coming up for me is empathy. I need to first seek to understand, listen, and show empathy for others. In the end, we work best when we work together.
