May 22, 2020 Message From Superintendent Ben Ferney
Valley School District Staff and Families,
As we all continue to work through this unique situation, communication and feedback are important for us to be able to best to meet the needs of students and families. Please contact your child’s school if you have questions or concerns- we are here for you and your children.
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has a Reopening Washington Schools Workgroup and is going to release guidance documents and resources between June 8 and June 12. You might have seen that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued some guidelines on education and opening schools. CDC guidelines can be used as a reference but caution school districts from taking these as sole requirements for moving forward. The OSPI workgroup and the Department of Health (DOH) are working on guidelines for reopening in the Fall and governor’s office will also have input on it. Stay tuned.
There will be no meal service or childcare on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25).
Many aspects of our community and school district are impacted by census data. If you have not done so yet, I would encourage each of you to complete the 2020 census as soon as possible. For additional information related to the 2020 census, please visit https://2020census.gov/.
I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
