April 24, 2020 Message From Superintendent Ben Ferney
Valley School District Staff and Families,
First, I think it is important to acknowledge the stress involved in our current global health pandemic. We have all been put into a situation that forces us to adapt, evolve, and change. Change can be difficult even for those that want to change; let alone those that are forced too. Secondly, please know that school is not closed for the year- the buildings are. Teachers, support staff, and administrators are working hard to provide continuous learning opportunities for our students. Here are some updates for the week:
We served approximately 220 bags of food (440 meals) containing both a breakfast and lunch a day on three delivery routes and at the bus loop pick-up. This equates to ~2,200 total meals delivered last week. Moving forward, we will run the meal service Monday through Thursday (two days of meals on Thursday) and the bus loop location from 9:00-11:00 am.
Childcare continues to serve families of 1st responders and medical professionals.
We are providing internet for educational purposes in the parking lot in front of the District Office. Please use the guest network, use internet for educational purposes, and practice proper social distancing.
On Tuesday, K-8 families picked up personal belongs in the bus loop.
On Friday, Paideia Staff completed the second week (of three) “Bear-A-Van” routes.
Inevitably, we will face some bumps along the way, and I am confident that we can take on those bumps best if we take them on together. I hope you and your family are finding ways to safely enjoy the fresh air and each other’s company in this unprecedented time.
