I was born and raised in Spokane WA. After high school I attended Spokane Community College where I completed my AA degree. I transferred to Eastern Washington University where I completed my BS in Applied Developmental Psychology, followed by my Masters degree in Applied Developmental Psychology with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling. In 2018 I returned to EWU to complete the requirement for School Counseling.

I started my career working at Spokane Mental Health from 2005-2012. In 2012 I took a position at the Spokane VA in the Behavioral Health Clinic as a therapist/care manager. In 2016 I accepted the position as Clinical Supervisor and Program Manger for Housing and Urban Development Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing Program. Late 2018, after much consideration I resigned from the VA to return to the work I am most passionate about, working with kids!

I worked in several elementary schools in Spokane Public Schools while completing my School Counseling internship hours, as well as serving as Long Term School Counseling Substitute.

I am elated to be joining the Valley School District Team! I will be supporting both Valley K-8 and Paideia HS. I am committed to providing a comprehensive social emotional curriculum that will support student’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

When I am not working you can find me with my family. I have been married for 11 years to my husband Michael and we have three children Hudson (10), Porter (7), and Eden (5). I enjoy being outdoors, swimming, boating, hiking, snow skiing, basking in the sun, and reading a good book.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out, stop by, or call. I am looking forward to working with all of the students and families of Paideia! I can be reached at Kimberly.mcnees@valleyk8.org or by phone (509)937-2696.
