Coach Josh Clemmer and assistant coach Eric Blackburn are training up 13 middle school boys who are working hard to develop into a team, and their efforts are producing results. The Eagles are currently 2 and 2 after recently winning a come-from-behind game against Cusick on Monday, Feb. 1. All five starters contributed at both ends of the floor, with several support players coming in to help the Eagles gain the win.
Coach Clemmer’s approach is always to push each player to develop his own skills in order to continue playing once he advances to high school. Both coaches also desire to establish a sense of "team" with all the boys.
“They must always see that their individual efforts, both on and off the floor, including in the classroom, have an impact on their team for better or worse,” asserts Clemmer. “As well, we all make mistakes, but a good team will help to limit the impact by rallying around the moment and moving forward.”
The JV and Varsity squads are halfway through the season and continued progress is anticipated with hopes of ongoing backing from the Eagles’ fans. Coaches Clemmer and Blackburn extend their thanks to all staff and families as well as other students who have shown their support for the Valley Eagles this season.
