The Valley School will be hosting a kindergarten orientation for students and their families on Wednesday, April 29th, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Valley School Music Room. This will be a great opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with the kindergarten teachers and to learn what to expect for the coming school year. Families will take a tour of the school and get to meet other families. Students will also get to see what’s it’s like to be on a school bus. As usual, there will be milk and cookies available.
For attending the orientation and turning in a completed enrollment packet, new students will get a free backpack filled with school supplies – pencils, paper, crayons, scissors and glue. They will also receive the Core Knowledge book “What Your Kindergartener Needs to Know” that will prepare students for what they will learn throughout the 2015/16 school year.
There will also be a Preschool-to-Kindergarten Transition orientation for students already attending the Valley Early Learning Center (VELC) earlier in the day on April 29th. The preschoolers will join the kindergarten class for lunch, recess and an activity, starting at 10:30 a.m., and then families are invited to meet up with their preschool students in the Valley School Music Room from 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the orientation. Families need attend only one of the two orientations that day.
Parents and guardians are asked to bring immunization records and birth certificates for students that will be enrolling. For new students, to be eligible for enrollment in the 2015/16 school year, they must be five years old before September 1, 2015. Interested families may call the school office and request an enrollment packet in advance, or wait to receive an enrollment packet at the orientation.
