“Book Up Summer” is teamed with Page Ahead, a statewide program designed to cut the reading achievement gap in half by 2020.  By partnering with Page Ahead, Valley School will be receiving books for three years.  This year, Kindergarten students will each receive 12 books to keep. The club brought the youngsters warm hats, gloves, coloring books and other small gifts. The club spent time at both centers doing Christmas crafts with the children and getting to know them. Today’s pep rally at the Valley School featured the boys’ football players against the girls’ volleyball players in a competition for the much-coveted spirit stick. Competition events included a volleyball game with a gigantic, inflatable volleyball, an enormous plastic egg balancing relay, a blindfolded donut-on-a-string eating challenge, and a five-marshmallows-on-a-string challenge. Abduction Alert In Springdale Area

According to Stevens County Sherriff’s Patrol Captain, Andy Harbolt, a white male, 18-20 years old, driving a green SUV-type vehicle, made an attempt to abduct two girls south of Springdale last night at about 5:00 PM. Another attempt was made in Springdale at about 7:00 PM. Springdale Superintendent Kevin Jacka reports that the suspect was by the burned gas station talking to a high school girl yesterday evening.
