Interdistrict Cooperative High School
“All genuine learning is active, not passive. It involves the use of mind, not just the memory. It is the process of discovery in which the student is the main agent....” – "The Paideia Proposal" by Mortimer J. Adler
Valley School District, in cooperation with Loon Lake, Orient, Orondo and Summit Valley school districts, is excited to offer a new high school option, now available to students who will be in the 9th -12th grade as of the 2010/2011 academic school year.
Made available by ESHB 2913, a bill which allows two or more non-high school districts to form an interdistrict cooperative high school, this option lets high school students remain in their resident district and enroll in a program that is theme-focused, multifaceted, accelerated and creative. Both an onsite and a distance option will be offered to those who wish to enroll.
The philosophy and approach, based on Mortimer J. Adler's "The Paideia Proposal," will strive to provide the best education for all. Delivery will be diverse and flexible, meeting the many needs of students.
Other program highlights:
- Transportation to the Valley campus will be provided to students anywhere in the Loon Lake, Summit Valley and Valley region.
- Highly qualified teachers will provide a personalized and engaging instructional environment, challenging every student to grow to his or her maximum potential.
